Secrets of the Step Pyramid
The Egyptian pyramids of the first three dynasties of pharaohs were very different from other pyramids; they were built ladder-shaped. During the Third Dynasty, the very first (at least among the preserved ones) 60-meter tall stone pyramid of Pharaoh Djoser was built by Imhotep. It was not actually a pyramid but a staircase going up high and leading to heaven. It consisted of six steps connecting seven levels, which were the seven spheres of the world. This symbol kickstarted the construction of the later pyramids. Later, it was assumed that a soul was to pass these seven levels after a person died. This general concept originated from Egypt, though it is present in all mythologies around the world.
Imhotep was the high priest of Heliopolis, the founder of medicine, the leader of all astronomers, the brilliant architect, the vizier of the pharaoh, the man who was considered a wizard and god all over the world, who was worshipped as a god even by the first Christians. The Greeks equated him to the god of medicine, Asclepius, and recognized him as the greatest and wisest man, a leader of all researchers. Imhotep was the first and only person recognized by humanity as a god while still alive.
The ladder-shaped pyramid he built in Saqqara was the first known stone structure. The step pyramid of Djoser is a stairway leading to heaven and connecting its seven levels. The figure below1 shows the exact proportions between its steps.
Take a look at the picture below. This pattern of blue faience tile is located over one of the passages between the rooms of the southern mastaba inside the step pyramid of Djoser. Its proportions are also subject to the exact proportions of square roots. However, that’s not all the designer of this amazing structure wanted to leave us. Those who have eyes will see the Nine Crystal Spheres in this picture. There are nine levels of consciousness, five of which a man “holds in his hands” as the handle of the djed symbol this drawing is composed of. He has yet to develop another four. Humanity has lost its understanding of the djed symbol, which is often depicted in conjunction with the ankh, a symbol of eternal life. The meaning of the djed symbol is human consciousness.
Faith in Imhotep and the sacredness of the ground at the foot of the pyramid was the reason why sufferers from various countries have been flocking to this place for many centuries, wanting and hoping to receive healing and help there. This sacred place was the last hope for many. People settled and lived right there, near the foot of the step pyramid. Sometimes, the last thing they saw in this life was the ladder-shaped pyramid towering to the sky, the majestic ladder that took them to heaven forever. Imhotep did not leave the Laws of Spheres. Still, he left his descendants with evidence that he possessed this knowledge, the evidence embodied in millions of tons of stone, a testimony that has survived through millennia. Only now can we appreciate the greatness of his act.
